Why Women in Finance?
Although women make up a significant portion of the workforce in the financial sector, statistics from the Swedish Financial Services Association show that women are underrepresented in leadership positions. In addition, women earn around 25% less than their male colleagues in equivalent positions.
A survey from the Swedish Securities Market also shows that a lack of female role models and a male-dominated work environment are some of the reasons why women choose not to or leave the industry.
According to the Women in Finance Charter's Progress Report 2023, reaching out to women at university level is crucial to bringing about change. Early interventions help more women see opportunities and dare to take a place in the industry.
That's why we organize Women in Finance. The aim is to create a platform where students in finance and economics can be inspired, network and strengthen their position in the industry. By highlighting role models, sharing knowledge and building networks, we want to contribute to a more inclusive and equal future in the financial sector, where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
